故事发生在二战期间，纳粹占领了法国，巴黎成为被占领区，物资匮乏，黑市交易盛行。一个晚上，一对夫妇来到一家小酒馆，随后一名中年壮汉也进入了店里。丈夫马克（布尔维尔 Bourvil 饰）对妻子与中年壮汉（让·迦本 Jean Gabin 饰）之间的聊天感到嫉妒，一气之下甩了妻子一个耳光，导致妻子离开，整个场面陷入了沉默。当中年壮汉准备离开时，丈夫拦住了他，并邀请他共进晚餐。 在晚餐期间，他们开始怀念过去有猪肉的日子，对话既有趣味又带有伤感。丈夫得知中年壮汉是一名油漆工后，产生了误会，因为法语中的油漆工和油画家是同一个词。丈夫向他透露自己是走私猪肉的人，需要找一个伙伴来帮忙，主要任务是在宵禁期间用行李箱将猪肉从巴黎的一端运送到另一端，以备次日的黑市交易。中年壮汉对此表示浓厚的兴趣，两人达成了共识。。15 year girl runs away from home to live with her grandmother after mom is arrested for prostitution and step dad for molesting her.
