一位住在乡村的七旬阿嬷因儿子突然遭遇车祸丧生，独自担负起照顾被儿子收养的七岁孙女的责任。大字不识一个的她希望能在死前看懂儿子身前寄来的信件和日记，为了死后不留下遗憾，她下定决心开始上学。同时，在与小孙女的朝夕相处中，她对小孙女的感情也从原来的排斥、厌恶到最终的难舍难分。当得知儿子身前的同事找到了小女孩的亲属时，她为了能让孩子有更好的生活，决定送走她，并把自己的所有财产都存到了孩子的名下。最后，儿子的同事也被他们之间的亲情所感动，将小女孩留了下来。祖孙俩从此快乐的生活在那个宁静的小山村。。外卖员郑小涛因救人反被污蔑为杀人犯。而真正的杀人凶手，却仗着家里的权势，四处散播谣言，抹灭证据，买通律师，企图将杀人罪责全部推到郑小涛身上。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
