"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North. The film is narrated by an unborn child, and ancestors already dead also seem to be as present as the living.。桑吉那（卡琳娜·卡普 Kareena Kapoor 饰）一转眼就到了结婚的年纪，她的姐姐介绍了一个名叫普瑞姆（阿布舍克·巴强 Abhishek Bachchan 饰）的男子给她认识，普瑞姆来到了桑吉那的家乡，桑吉那的家人们热情的接待了他。刚开始，桑吉那对这个男人不以为意，但渐渐的，两人被彼此的魅力所吸引，双双坠入了情网之中。在这个节骨眼上，桑吉那的姐姐打来了电话，她告诉桑吉那，真正的普瑞姆因为公司有事而无法前来，派来了公司里的主管先行和桑吉那见面。得知了这一真相，桑吉那的母亲希望女儿能够嫁给做老板的那个普瑞姆。之后，老板普瑞姆也来到了桑吉那家中。。
