酒祖杜康的后人杜皮，惨淡经营一间小酒吧，酒吧的调酒师贺童本是竹林七贤之一的刘伶转世，专为盗杜康酒的配方而来。杜皮手中有一张祖传的杜康画像，地仙杜子春透露，杜康酒配方和酿造方法就隐藏在这张杜康画像中。机缘巧合之下，杜皮和贺童发现，这张杜康画像竟然有穿梭时空的神奇功能。于是，以杜康画像为媒介，同时，也为了寻找杜康酒的配方和酿造方法，贺童带着杜皮以及三个酒吧里的女招待一起穿古越今，和中国历史上的诸多名人纷纷邂逅，一段段奇幻的经历也就此展开。。一个16岁的男孩坚信自己将来会成为一个音乐巨星，尽管在这个小镇上的其他人都不这么认为，直到一位著名的音乐家的儿子来到了这里并帮助他排练他的才艺秀节目，他们在互相学习的过程中也逐渐变得更加亲密。。As told to a psychiatrist: Mr. Peabody, middle-aged Bostonian on vacation with his wife in the Caribbean, hears mysterious, wordless singing on an uninhabited rock in the bay.
