美丽俊俏的上海女孩安娜周身散发着挥之不去的小资情调，这份独特的气质在那个革命年代里显得尤为突出。她阅读那个年代被禁止的外国名著，幻想着一份浪漫的爱情。然而，现实与梦想往往存在巨大的反差。安娜所在工厂的人事科长帮她介绍了一门亲事，对方是科长来自农村的表侄，名叫王贵。虽然王贵是当时难得一见的大学生，又是个大学教员，但长相平平，令安娜大失所望。尽管如此，安娜的妈妈和周围的亲戚邻居们对王贵却青眼有加。经过一波三折，王贵与安娜终于走到一起。不过，生活的考验才刚刚开始……。The Moliere players are in their dressing room, getting ready to go on set.
