未来的地球因缺乏氧气而不适于居住，一位母亲玛雅（珍妮佛哈得孙饰）与她的女儿佐拉被迫住进地下，只能透过玛雅疑似已死亡的丈夫——大流士所设计的先进氧气装备才能到地表上短暂活动。此时一对神秘男女造访，声称他们知道大流士的去向，玛雅心切地同意他们进入地堡，没想到这对男女的动机并不单纯，玛雅与佐拉必须为自己的生存而战！。"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North. The film is narrated by an unborn child, and ancestors already dead also seem to be as present as the living.。
